Arizona linebacker Brandon Rutt is taking a graduate transfer. He's the second Wildcat this week to look an opportunity to play his final season elsewhere. Rutt started four games this season before losing his starting job to a true freshman, and he appeared in every game of his Arizona career. Rutt will graduate in the spring.
Meanwhile, Casey Hughes, who had 11 starts as a defensive back for Utah last season, will also play college football elsewhere next season. Hughes earned his starting role after appearing primarily on special teams his first two seasons on campus. It's unclear yet when Hughes will graduate, but he's a three time All-Conference academic performer, so he'll probably be fine. Stay tuned on this one - Hughes seems likely to be in high demand.
