Colorado State gets surprise QB commit

Remember KJ Carta-Samuels? Washington QB graduate transfer heading to UCLA? Yeah, he changed plans. Yeah, he changed plans in a major way.

Carta-Samuels is now taking his grad transfer to Colorado State. The Rams lost their quarterback to a knee injury a few weeks ago, and now they have another solution to take his place. Carta-Samuels was a career role player for the Huskies who is using his final year of college football to play in the Mountain West Conference. It will be interesting to hear what made him change his mind.

College football grad transfer news

Gardner Minshew, the grad transfer who gained national attention after committing to Alabama, is changing direction. The East Carolina quarterback is now heading to Washington State. Minshew expressed a belief that playing in the Cougars' system will give him a better shot at the NFL. Stay tuned to see if Alabama looks into another graduate transfer on the market.

Also, Denzel Fisher, a defensive back, is taking his graduate transfer from UCLA. He spent three years as a reserve for the Bruins and will graduate this spring. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Taua joining brothers at Nevada

Ainuu Taua, a defensive lineman from UCLA, is taking a graduate transfer to play his final season of college football at Nevada. This is a pretty cool story - Ainuu's younger brother Toa will be joining the Wolfpack for the 2018 season as well, while their older brother is on the coaching staff. Taua is coming off a knee injury, but should be ready to go once he joins Nevada in the summer. He graduates from UCLA in June.

Gio Gentosi seeking grad transfer

Gentosi, a fullback from UCLA, is looking to take a graduate transfer for his last season of eligibility. We talked to Gio about his decision.

UCLA underwent a coaching change this off-season, and Gio told us the new offense being installed doesn't offer many opportunities for fullbacks. Gentosi can also play tight end, but he would to prefer play out of the backfield.

Gio is graduating in the spring and is hoping to to pursue a Master's Degree in business. He's open to playing college football pretty much anywhere in the U.S.

Carta-Samuels heading to UCLA

KJ Samuels, a backup QB for the last two seasons at Washington, is heading to UCLA. He's taking a grad transfer to compete for the starting job for the Bruins, who have a new coach (Chip Kelly) and an open competition for the starting job. Samuels was highly touted out of high school, but was never able to get the starting job for the Huskies. He'll be enrolling for the spring semester at UCLA.
