Rice offensive lineman Calvin Anderson is taking a grad transfer and intends to play college football elsewhere next year. Anderson has been a stud for Rice, starting at the critical left tackle spot in 2017 and a three year starter overall. Rice is in the midst of an upheaval, having fired long-tenured David Bailiff last month. Anderson seems to be moving on to be avoiding a rebuilding year. He will graduate this May.
Derrek Thomas, a two year contributor at defensive back for the Owls, is leaving Philadelphia for Waco, Texas. He announced on Instagram that he'll be playing for Baylor next season. You may recall that Matt Rhule, the Bears' head coach, left Temple for his current position. (Similar to Cordell Hudson leaving Syracuse to join forces with his former head coach, Scott Shafer, now at MTSU).
Thomas was hurt for a large part of the year, but still managed to intercept a pass and break up five more.
