Trio of Rice grad transfers commit

Getting caught up on this weekend's news...

Calvin Anderson, perhaps the most hyped graduate transfer we've ever seen, has committed to play for Texas. Anderson was a three year starter for the Owls, and he was highly touted as one of the few highlights of Rice's offense last season. He figures to fit right away into the Longhorns' offensive line. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

JT Ibe, a defensive back, will be playing college football at South Carolina next season. Ibe was a three year starter for the Owls and was consistently among the team leader in tackles. He provides immediate experience to a young Gamecocks secondary. He has on year of eligibility remaining.

Preston Gordon, a defensive lineman, will take his grad transfer to Texas Tech. Gordon was a three year starter for Owls, and he figures to step in immediately to the Red Raiders' defensive line rotation. He also has one year of eligibility remaining.

No new names, but plenty of activity

Spring practices for college football are coming up, so there's a bit of a down time for players deciding to move on as graduate transfers.

But there's plenty of visits and rumors around.

That's especially true for former Rice players. If you follow grad transfers as closely as we do, you've probably heard of Calvin Anderson, the offensive lineman who everyone seems to want. He's visited many of the big names, and will choose between Oklahoma, Texas, Auburn, and Michigan quite soon.

Former Rice defensive back J.T. Ibe has visited Indiana, Iowa State, and South Carolina. Meanwhile, former Owls defensive lineman Preston Gordon is hearing from Alabama, Syracuse, Texas Tech ,and Kansas.

They're just a few of the many guys who are looking for their graduate transfer destination, and we'll add them to the list as soon as we hear more.
